Getting, GROWING and Going Pt2
Warning: Growing in the Word does not necessarily constitute Spiritual Growth.  One might be able to memorize scripture, putting it in his mind.  Unless one accepts Christ and puts it in his Heart, it will do them little good toward Spiritual Growth.
We are not to just grow spiritually, but we are to grow the church as well.  I have heard several people say, in different churches, say “It is not the number of people we get in the church that matters, but how the people in the church grow”, after giving this a lot of thought, I cannot agree with that statement.  To say that we do not want a full church is to say “It is okay if some people go to Hell, as long as the ones going to Heaven are well educated, and mature Christians”.  We have a responsibility to go into the World and bring people to Jesus.
Last week we are talking about Getting; Getting Salvation, Getting Spiritual Gifts, Getting Committed and Getting People, this morning we are going to talk about Growing.  Are you growing this morning?  In order to grow we must take something into digest.  It is a fact.  If we do not eat we do not grow.

GETTING, Growing and Going Pt 1
Numbers 14:11 “How long will they reject me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?”
Have you ever noticed the little circle of arrows in the top corner of the bulletin?  Can anyone tell me why that is there?  Why do we have those three arrows?  They are in a circle, that would indicate that whatever it is, is a repetitive process.  Each arrow has a word associated with it.  When I created that logo back in at the end of 2013, I did so to remind us of our vision, our mission and purpose.  If you do not remember, do not worry, while I do know what the arrows are, I have been distracted and personally taken a detour this year.  The messages over the next couple of weeks are as much to remind me as to remind you.  It may come as a surprise to some of you, that God speaks to me through His messages as much has, he does you.  Just because a preach it, does not mean I do not hear it.
In September of 2013, God gave me a vision for this church, Getting, Growing and Going.  While over the last several months we have seen God at work, despite my distractions, all praise and glory go to God. Over the next couple weeks, we are going to focus on getting, growing and going.  This is the being of the process, not the result.   Goshen and the surrounding area have really started to grow over the last year.  We need to make sure those people hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We need to let them know we are here teaching it every Sunday.

    A New Year
    Series: (All)
Where does the term 20/20 for perfect vision come from?  If you look at an eye chart, the name is the 20ft eye chart, there is a red line.  This line is called the 2020 line.  A person with average eyesight can see read this line from 20 ft.  2020 is not perfect vision.  There are those who have 20/10, they can read the line them most people read at 10ft at 20ft and then there are those of us who have less than average vision.  Something like 20/30; we have to be at 20ft to read what the average person can read at 30ft.  Vision is more than eyesight.
As we start on the journeys of the this New Year, let us determine that it will be a year of victory! Let us choose our own attitudes and follow the advise of the Apostle Paul. Resolve to... Function in the Present: Stop living in the future. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Forget your Past: Look beyond the sins and failures of yesterday; learn from them, repent of them, and then move forward. Focus your Priorities: Place God at the top of your "to do" list everyday. Worship Him. Study His Word. Put His Kingdom first in your life and everything else will fall into place. Philippians 3 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

    God Rules
    Series: (All)
This morning I can promise you this, God is still in control.  There is nothing in this world that surprises God.  He has a master plan that He is working.  Is this the beginning of the end?  Honestly, I do not know.  Depending on how events unfold we could see Ezekiel 38 played out before us.

Have you noticed all the fear-mongering at the beginning of this year?  The media and leftist politician have locked onto this to attempt to create mass fear in the U.S.  We have seen the Islamic fascist within our government come out and declare that the U.S. is guilty of war-crimes, using words like assassination and murder.  We have seen comments that we might go to war with Iran.  We see where some have suggested that Iran will use a Cyber attack against the United States.  This morning let me put your mind at ease.  Iran is a radical Islamic nation who seeks to destroy the Godly nations, Christian ones like the United States and Jewish ones like Israel.  They desire to see the United States brought to it knees and forced into an Islamic nation.  To that end, they are always looking for ways to attack, whether that is through soft-target or cyber-attacks.  The United State is having cyber-attacks daily.  While the rhetoric and vocal threats have increased, the reality is those threats have existed before the events of the last week.  There is no more reason to live in fear today than there was two weeks ago.
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

The Paradoxes of the Passion Part 2
    Series: Lent 2019
Three representative groups of His bitterest enemies unwillingly give testimony to Him in Mark's panorama of Calvary. Their taunts at the cross are really testimonies. The stones that they throw at Him are in reality glorious prophecies that proclaim the Gospel. And out of the mouths not of babes but of mockers God perfects praise.

The Paradoxes of the Passion Part 1
    Series: Lent 2019
We are not taking a chronological journey to Cross.  It is not a series of sermons accounting the days of events leading to the Cross.  I want to point out the significant of the Cross, not give lessons of the events that led to the Cross.  It is more about the results than the reasons this morning.

    We Would See Jesus
    Series: Lent 2019
In the 20th chapter of John, John records an encounter with Jesus that should make us stop and evaluate our relationship, our passion and our dedication to Him.  We find where a group of men, who are not Jews, come out of the crowd to seek Jesus, not just as a novelty, but truly seek Him.  In His response, Jesus challenges them and us to die that we might live.  Jesus lays out three truths for these men, first, LIFE COMES THROUGH DEATH; second, LIFE COMES THROUGH AN EXCHANGE and third, LIFE COMES THROUGH SERVICE.

    Triumphal Entry
    Series: Lent 2019
Jesus sets in motion a huge crusade. Why? It probably was so the Jews would never be able to say, “If we had only had the opportunity to embrace You as our King, we certainly would have done so.” He stripped away that excuse from the Jewish nation when He rode into Jerusalem and publicly offered Himself to them as their Messiah. The passage we will look at this morning emphasizes that Jesus is the King of Glory: the King comes in peace (21:1-5); the King is acclaimed by the people; and the King is crowned with praise. This event is the inauguration of the Prince of Peace as King of kings.

    Figs and Sons
    Series: (All)
This morning I want to take a look at a passage of scripture that seems almost out of character for Jesus.  It does not fit into the world’s, what I call “hippy Jesus”.  It is not an act of kindness or compassion; It is an act of judgement.
Like the fig tree, God has created everything to a purpose, even you and me.  Are you doing what God created you to do?

How to Handle Stress Part 3
How do we deal with stress and get it to a healthy level?  1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that “… God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”  This includes stress.  We are tempted to handle things on our own and this creates unhealthy stress in our lives.  We have heard about the stressor in our lives, this morning I want to look at the solution.
